Last month, I was invited to join Claire and Frances at the British Nutrition Foundation to deliver an updated webinar on Building cultural awareness when delivering healthy eating messages. It is part of the professional development programme called Teaching Primary Food and Nutrition, commissioned by the All Saints Educational Trust. In this webinar, I talked about diets of ‘minority ethnic groups’ in the UK, the growing trend of ‘world foods’, and strategies to develop an inclusive classroom – with the most important message that food is very much an inter-disciplinary subject, there are so many different types of food which can all contribute to a healthy, varied diet, but building this food literacy is key to make a difference.
