A new venture that started at the latter half of 2019 was for Kurami UK (www.kurami.co.uk), a meal subscription company in London. I met Camilla, Kurami’s founder and fellow foodie, at SOAS a few years back. My work involves menu development to suit two ‘meal plans’ and designing new recipes with our head chef.
Earlier this year, I came back to London over the Chinese New Year holidays to support this work in the new Hackney-based kitchen. Being on our feet in the kitchen was no mean feat – but of course lots of fun and very rewarding too. It was great to see dishes being executed right away, helping to organise the kitchen flow and using Nutritics to calculate the nutrition information too for menu planning. It was so lovely to work closely in a small team to get the final versions of the offerings tried, tested and ready to go.
It was a different experience being involved in the PR activities from the start, including a KOL (key opinion leader) event meeting in February influencers in the health and beauty sector. Sometimes nutrition messages just get diluted or extracted out of context, as ever I felt very important to get the nutrition messages straight and accurate.
With social distancing policies in place, I am working with Kurami UK to share recipes using their veg and fruit box offering:
We are still fine-tuning the offering, but do check it out!
